Program Manager

Part Time | Cambridge, MA | Remote-friendly | $25-35/hour

Play a vital role in Momentum AI’s nonprofit mission to make education about artificial intelligence accessible to all. We offer free, project-based programs and curriculum, including Momentum Capstone, a summer program for under-resourced students to work with (mo)mentors from top computer science universities.

Momentum AI is a nonprofit education organization founded by Selena Zhang, Alexander Amini, and Ava Soleimany, and run by a small team of dedicated volunteers from MIT and Harvard. We’re supported by a combination of large foundations and company sponsors. Although we’ve previously focused on serving the Boston area, we’re scaling our programs to universities across the United States.

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and proactive educator and event-planning wizard to lead Momentum Capstone and make it a rigorous (and fun) technical dive for high schoolers curious about AI. Your job is to lead a team of university student volunteers who’ll coordinate curriculum, student outreach, mentor recruitment and training, and corporate sponsorships for our two-week summer program.

Check out what our program looks like! No experience in AI is required and we will upskill you if you demonstrate the desire/hunger to learn.

In this role, you would:

  • Lead Momentum Capstone@MIT to ensure an incredible summer experience so that under-resourced high schoolers attain 100% engagement and 100% satisfaction

  • Manage a small team of volunteers and part-time employees

  • Oversee camp accommodation and meals and ensure the well-being of campers

  • Ensure the venue, catering, mentors, and students all know where they need to be and when and prepare them to deliver a high-quality experience

  • Listen to mentors and students and incorporate their feedback

  • Deliver virtual and in-person trainings to help technical mentors learn how to teach

  • Mentor prospective university group leaders in launching programs on their own campuses

  • Keep records and document processes

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • You have experience in education at the high school level and are confident designing and delivering new content

  • You’ve run events for 50+ people before

  • You’re great at working with volunteers, especially at the university level, and can lead them to push forward new initiatives

  • You’re excited about helping hundreds of students learn about AI and pathways to college each year

  • You have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • You thrive in a dynamic environment, adapt quickly to changes, and can work at a fast pace

  • You embody the values of Momentum AI: curious, self-starting, playful, dedicated, and feedback-driven.

  • You have the traits of a wonderful friend: excited about empowering students to chart their own course and run after their curiosities, always open to questions, and genuinely invested in students’ happiness and personal growth

  • No experience in AI is required and we will upskill you if you demonstrate the desire/hunger to learn.
